Dark Tech Effects was tasked with designing the audio and lighting system, show control, queue line system, and new transparent video / CGI effects for the new Rob Zombie attraction at the LA County Fairplex. This new event includes three amazing haunted attractions inspired by Rob Zombie’s cult classic movies. The three attractions are:
Lords of Salem In Total Black Out: Installation of new ambient network audio and point source sound effects in this classic blackout maze.
Haunted World of El Superbeasto in 3D: Installation of blacklight fixtures, audio system, and a great laser effect that included four vortexes.
Haunt of 1,000 Corpses: Installation of many automated lighting effects that synchronized with various animatronics. In addition, over twelve video CGI effects were created, programmed, and installed; a 24-channel audio system was installed to set the tone for each scene and set the mood for each serial killer’s time period; and one of the pre-show video effects includes three synchronized monitors displaying famous serial killers who pass a deadly weapon and give guests a great surprise at the end.
Bloody Boulevard (Midway): Set in between the attractions and the concert venue, this space contained concessions, merchandise and scare actors. Dark Tech Effects created a queue line system where guests would be allowed to enjoy the evening’s entertainment without waiting in line for the haunted attractions. We created graphics for queue line cards that were displayed on six monitors so that guests know when it is their time to enter the event. We also installed speakers which filled the space with ambient music.
